As a creative at heart, Mindy has been involved in every aspect of the filmmaking process. Her acting career, which was her first passion, took her to New York City to study at the prestigious Michael Howard Studios. While in NYC, she found a love for producing and creative marketing. Mindy lived in NYC for seven years and was bi-coastal, living in Los Angeles, for the last two. She worked with the Seattle Film Festival, spearheading their Platinum Pass Concierge Experience. Being a graduate of the University of Texas, Mindy was anxious to get back to Austin and there, found her footing and place in the world of film and TV. She has spent the last three years as the first Executive Director of the Texas Motion Picture Alliance, the organization advocating and fighting for a stronger rebate incentive program in Texas. She has lead the charge to inform and educate our State Representatives and Senators about the massive impact production has on our state. Now, Director of Marketing and Development for New Republic Studios, Mindy’s talents and her ability to connect people will help launch the studios to be the epicenter for the creative media world.
What do you do / where do you go to feel at peace?
Great question! Especially with two spirited boys and a full-time career. I like to get outside and play with my kiddos or wake up early and get in a workout. It’s amazing how much smoother my day goes when it starts with barre or yoga at the crack of dawn.
What do you love getting your hands on?
Organizing things! Whether it be closets, bedrooms, kitchens. I LOVE seeing transition from chaos to clean. I am uber-organized…almost to a fault.
Where was the last place you laughed uncontrollably?
At my in-laws. My husband and I get to laughing at something ridiculous and then it just escalates from there!
What makes a place special to you?
Candles, succulents and being organized. When I come into a space, I have to bring aromatherapy, something living and make sure the space is clutter-free.
Describe a great time in three words.
Outside, family, cocktails (not necessarily in that order).
Tell us about the last time you saw something extraordinary.
My son picked up a tarantula and loved it! I enjoy from afar but he is one who wants to explore and hold everything in nature!
What are you most excited about what’s going on in your life right now?
My new position. I just came on as Head of Marketing and Development for a production studio, New Republic Studios and it’s very exciting. The sky’s the limit and I am beyond grateful to everyone I get to collaborate with daily. Combines all my passions and talents…truly my dream job.
